A distress call was put out by the 24 foot angling boat named Reel Hasslee  at 3 pm on Decmeber 27th saying they were drifting off Deal pier with engine problems with two people on board.   Dover Coastguard requested the launch of Walmer Lifeboat to go and assist.

Once again there was  a quick launch, the Lifeboat was soon alongside the stricken craft and after assessing the situation and talking to the owners it was decided to tow the vessel back to its home port of Ramsgate.

The owner, Sam Collier, sent the following message to the station later that day.

"I just wanted to drop you a line and thank you for your assistance and time on the 27th, it was very much appreciated and was a very real reminder of why we always join as members in support the services that you provide.
The time between call and assistance was very impressive!
.Many thanks
."

Dave Mitchell, the crew member responsible for organising the training for the station, was on board for the ‘shout’ and said “it is always good to see the hours of work put in ashore and afloat during training sessions successfully put into practice”
